Janette Mason is a London-based pianist, composer, arranger and producer, and has been a mainstay of the British jazz scene over the last 15 years. From an early age, Janette watched the famed Oscar Peterson show, which cemented her love for music and the piano.
Janette Mason is a London-based pianist, composer, arranger and producer, and has been a mainstay of the British jazz scene over the last 15 years. From an early age, Janette watched the famed Oscar Peterson show, which cemented her love for music and the piano.
Janette has previously recorded two trio albums, her debut album Din and Tonic was shortlisted by the Guardian as a contender for “Jazz Album of the Year”, followed by her 2009 release, Alien Left Hand, which garnered a Parliamentary Jazz nomination in the best CD category.
As an arranger, producer and performer Janette has an outstanding record of accomplishments. Touring extensively throughout the 1990’s with the artists Oasis, Pulp and Robert Wyatt. Proving herself as a consummate musician with a standout talent in Jazz, Pop, and World Music. She has contributed arrangements to Ian Shaw’s Drawn To All Things and produced Lea DeLaria’s, The Live Smoke Sessions, that reached the Grammy Ballot. Janette’s compositions can be heard on numerous TV programs and Films including the score for the award-winning film Ruby Blue starring Bob Hoskins.
Janette has never shied away from making music that is complex and challenging but does it with her keen ear for melody and a powerful sense of rhythm whilst remaining true to her unique compositional style.
